Our box – (1.page)

Written by: Daniel Forlandsaas

Just for a moment, I need to put GOD in a ”human box” – for our level, for our understanding, on black and white.
And I intend to use all the 37,2 trillion cells in my body to do it as best as I can.

Trying to describe God, can be compared with sawing a tree with the help of a nail file, surf the internet by using the old Nokia 3310 phone, or cleaning the whole house just by using a toothbrush. Humans are God’s greatest creation, but we are still nowhere near being able to absorb the everlasting God – physically or mentally.

So forget about the world famous painting by Michelangelo of God as an old man with long hair and big beard whom you perhaps think of when God is mention. The Holy Bible is very clear on the fact that God is a Spirit, with powers that surpasses all understanding. “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
(John. 4:24)

Let’s take a quick look at the Universe, a perfect example of the outstanding work of God’s creation that we humans don’t hold much knowledge about. According to Space.com, it’s calculated to exist more than 1-2 billion galaxies in the Universe, more than double of what was believed a few years ago, and this number is still increasing fast as our technology also is getting better. In one of these galaxies, is the Milky Way, our galaxy. Believed to contain more than 300 billion stars, included our own Sun – which has room for more than 1 000 000 plant Earth’s inside of itself. On the night sky, we can also observe Betelgeuse which shines 60 000 brighter than the Sun, and has a radius 600 times bigger. And this is just a taste of the enormous complexity behind life, DNA, body, emotions, nature, animals etc., together with the giant sizes of other stars, planets and galaxies in the Universe.

So, with these astronomical sizes in the back of our head, perhaps it’s now a bit easier to understand why we CAN’T see God? The Holy Bible, Exodus. 33:20 – “You cannot see my face, for humans cannot see me and live.” This is a Holy and far greater God then what we can imagine, there is no such scales by humans that would fit the Almighty God.

And as sinner, as a spirit living now in a dirt body – we humans don’t have enough eyes, ears or body to absorb the everlasting Almighty God, Creator of the entire Universe and all what it contains.

So, when all of the creation is so vast and incredibly complex beyond what we can absorb, then what can then be said about the Creator of it all?

If we could outthink all of God with our 1,5 kg brain – then who is really God?
